YOU ARE HERE:   HOME   LLIW RESERVOIRS

One of Swansea's hidden gems, a true escape into nature

Two, man-made 19th century reservoirs, once supplying the growing City of Swansea with water, have today become a beautiful retreat into the natural landscape. An abundance of wildlife in a woodland, moorland and open mountain range setting. Parking is Pay and Display.

Woodland Walk
Route between the Reservoirs

The reservoirs (upper and lower) offer the perfect locations for walkers, nature lovers, photographers or for just taking long, tranquil strolls in an area surrounded by gently rolling hillside, open moorland, woodland trails and rich grassland. The area boasts an impressive variety of birdlife and animals. Red kites, kestrels and grey heron frequently soar overhead whilst butterflies, bats and the occasional otter frequent the banks of the River Lliw.

The walking trails are generally well maintained with a choice of a shorter walk around the lower reservoir (approx. 1.8 miles) and a longer route to the upper reservoir (extending your walk a further 1.8 miles).
