YOU ARE HERE: HOME TROSERCH WOODLANDS
Follow the river Morlais as it meanders through the cool, quiet Troserch woodland, don't forget to bring your wellies! Entry is free, parking at north end is free, south end parking is on-street.
A truly ancient woodland with a rich history to match. The river Morlais, exploited through the centuries by milling and coal mining industries, provided the power to run reasonably good businesses for the local Llangennech inhabitants.
Today just a trace remains of the industrial activities, the remnants of Troserch Mill, for example, can be seen at the south end of the walk, built in the early 1800s it's crumbling stone walls now being slowly consumed by the forest.
Find out more about the history of the woodland at the Troserch Woods website.
Relax and just lose track of time... but don't lose your dog, keep it on a lead (seriously!)
It's about 1.5 miles one way from the northern car park to the south entrance, off Troserch Road.
Use the 'what3words' app for a precise location:
///prominent.copies.stooping (north car park)
///fishery.ducks.scuba (south entrance)
Access to the north car park is via Troserch Road, follow this road northwards and turn right at the first proper junction, this road is only wide enough for one vehicle but there are passing places at intervals. Alternatively start at the south end and park in Troserch Road (use the kissing gate at the beginning of the narrow footpath between the houses and electric sub-station).
St Illtyd's Walk intersects with the Troserch Woods walk at the south bridge, a walk of 64 miles from Pembrey Country Park to Margam Abbey.
