YOU ARE HERE: HOME SANDY WATER PARK, LLANELLI
Ducks foraging the grassy water banks, swans serenely gliding across the glistening surface, cormorants drying their wings in the warm sunshine, herons darting for fish along the shallow banks, there's quite a lot to take in at this superb wetland habitat. Entry to the site is free but parking is pay and display.
Take a leisurely walk around the mostly flat lakeside footpath, ideal for prams or wheelchairs (north side path has a fine gravel surface but is quite solid). Feed the ducks or relax alongside the waters edge, take your own picnic or take advantage of the café/restaurant at the eastern corner of the lake. Just a short walk to the south of the lake, up a short hill, you'll discover a route to Llanelli's golden, sandy beach ...a bonus extension to your walk perhaps!
An abundance of birds and wild flowers.
During the summer months the eastern car park gets quite full but it's just a few minutes drive around to the western end car park.
Use the 'what3words' app for a precise location:
Eastern car park: ///paper.moods.letter
Western car park: ///tend.rental.learns
Car access is off the B4304 into the eastern car park or off the A484 into the western car park (Millennium Coastal Park sign), both car parks are Pay and Display.
The site runs along side the National Cycle Network's Route 4. It's also close to the junction with Route 47 (which takes you to Swiss Valley and the north). Mainline railway station is just under a mile from the park.
