YOU ARE HERE: HOME MUMBLES
This is an extremely popular Swansea Bay seafront village, not just beautiful scenery but lots of independent shops and restaurants. Several car parks available, all pay and display.
One of the dominant features of the Mumbles area is the 12th century medieval, Norman Oystermouth Castle, perched on a hill above the village, you'll have superb views across the Mumbles area from the top of the front tower. Look out for seasonal events at the castle.
Walk or cycle along the mumbles seafront coastal path northwards, stretching from Mumbles pier to Swansea's maritime quarter (some 5 miles or so), tracing the edge of the Swansea Bay. You could take advantage of the Swansea Bay Land Train on part of this route at certain times of year. Alternatively follow the Wales Coast Path, on foot, westwards from Bracelet Bay towards Langland Bay and Caswell Beach.
A noteable landmark is the Mumbles Pier, built in the 1890s. It was the endpoint of the Swansea to Mumbles railway (sadly now disappeared) and is now home to the Swansea Lifeboat Station. The views across Swansea Bay from here, on a clear day, are quite spectacular. Go to mumblesrailwaytrail.com for an interesting, historical railway trail.
Take a walk up the path alongside Bracelet Bay from the 'apple shop' car park to view the Mumbles lighthouse (dating back to the 1790s in construction) and see the whole of the Swansea Bay. On a very clear day you can just make out Ilfracombe across the Bristol Channel!
Beaches, history and superb walking.
