YOU ARE HERE: HOME LLYN LLECH OWAIN COUNTRY PARK
Without doubt Llyn Llech Owain Country Park's biggest feature is its beautiful lake, virtually in the centre of a diverse mix of trees, wetlands and heathland. This is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its rare waterside habitat type. Free entry, parking is pay and display.
You can follow the quiet walks from the car park in a few different directions (see map below) over well managed pathways, around the lake, through wooded areas and over peat bogland. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as dragon fly, frogs, toads, butterflies, grass snakes, kestrels, woodpeckers and buzzards (The Red Kite being a regular visitor).
Near the car park is an adventure play area, cafe and toilets. A little further into the park, located on the edge of the lake, is the Discovery Tower, an ideal spot to stop for a picnic and enjoy the stunning views across the lake. Just to the north east of the Discovery Tower you'll come across another small stone tower, now disused, but was once a pumping station for supplying water to local communities.
Lakeland, woodland and plenty of wildlife.
