Visiting the 12th century Norman castle is a must. The site witnessed several battles between the Normans and Welsh princes over the 11th and 12th centuries with the Normans eventually replacing wooden structures for the stone walled bastion we see the remains of today. It's a short, steep climb up to the castle but well worth the effort. From the southern castle wall it's possible to see as far as Rhossili Bay's Worms Head, almost 14 miles away across Carmarthen Bay! Entry to the castle is free.
Keep an eye out for St Anthony's Well along the coastal route facing Scott's Bay, reputed to be an ancient site containing 'healing waters', a stone information slab claims that the well has been in existence since the 6th century.
Coast, castle and stunning views.
