YOU ARE HERE: HOME SWISS VALLEY
The Lower Lliedi Reservoir, 'Swiss Valley', is the perfect environment for a picturesque walk through mature woodland greenery, following a circular path around the waters edge. Entry and parking is free.
Constructed originally as a reservoir to serve the population of Llanelly in 1878 it's use is now mainly for the purpose of walking, fishing and water craft activities (permits required for fishing and water activities llanelli-rural.gov.uk).
The west side path has a smooth tarmac surface perfect for push chairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters (with a couple of gentle inclines) and has seating at intervals. The east side path is more challenging with rough muddy/rocky terrain.
Take advantage of the excellent coffee shop near the south side entrance, ideal after a strenuous run or brisk walk - hiatuscoffee.co.uk. Disabled access and dog friendly.
Perfect any time of year.
The whole circular walk is about 1.6 miles. One way up the smooth west path is about 0.7 miles.

///chill.weedy.jukebox (south car park)
There are two entrances to the reservoir off the A476, one to the north, specifically designed for disabled parking and access to the west path for wheelchair/pushchair users (the approach road to the car park is narrow with passing places). The other entrance is to the south for general parking (although this entrance has a steep path down to the reservoir, slippery in winter!). National Cycle Network Route 47 runs along side the reservoir with a short link down to the west side reservoir path. There is also a short walking route from the reservoir to the village of Felinfoel to the south, it's quite rough, muddy and not recommended for disabled visitors.
